Chartered Manager

Over the past few months I have been working on my application for the Chartered Manager Award with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

Well today I completed the last stage of the Award process, which is a presentation to a Panel. This consisted of a 15 minute verbal presentation on the impact I have made, followed by with a 30 minute Q & A session (questions from the Panel). The interview was held in London.

I spend quite a bit of time preparing for it and I must as admit to being a little nervous. Nervousness is not always a bad thing, because it can focus your thoughts and get you to work on what you have to do more closely.

One of the things I also did was to time myself to ensure that I stayed within the 15 minutes allotted for my presentation. I used a stop watch, I know a little extreme, some may say, but it worked for me. I have used this before and I find that it actually helps me to remember the most important aspect of the presentation I need to make. Tip for you there.

I am still awaiting the results. It can take up to two weeks to hear the outcome, although I was assured that it might be sooner. I was a little stunned how quickly the session was. After the my presentation I only was asked a couple questions. I guess I could take this as a good thing. It was all over so quickly.

Anyway, I am excited and will let you know how I got on.
